Vocational education and training (TAFE)
TAFE offers vocational education and training over a wide range of occupations. Qualifications include certificates, diplomas and advanced diplomas. Duration time varies depending on course selection with up to three years full time study being offered. Students can progress to university with credits from their TAFE studies.
Certificate I – IV
Certificate I and II are for entry-level positions or apprenticeships in a variety of industries; while Certificate III courses is ideal for people wanting to move out of entry-level roles, or shift into a new career. Certificate IV is designed for supervisory and management positions, and typically target people wanting to advance their careers in the industry they already work in or further develop skills acquired through previous study.

These are available in professional, technical and creative fields. From six months to two years.
Advanced Diploma is ideal for professionals wanting to fast-track their career advancement. Full-time courses typically take two or three years.
Australia has universities located in all its states and territories. These universities cater for a wide range of professional and academic disciplines. Both undergraduate and postgraduate levels of study are offered.
The graduate certificate will require six months of full-time study and graduate diploma twelve months. These qualifications are designed for the development of vocational skills and the broadening of knowledge in a professional area. Skills already developed in an undergraduate program can also be enhanced through these qualifications.
The basis qualification for entry into most professional occupations. The Bachelor degree involves a minimum of three years full-time study. Post-graduate study can follow on from a Bachelor degree. If a student is considering a Degree with Honours then an additional year will apply
This degree can take one year after a Bachelor Degree with honours or two years with a degree without honours. Understanding of a specific area through in-depth research is required for this degree.
This degree recognizes an original contribution to a given field in the form of new interpretation, application and adaption of existing knowledge. It takes three to four years and is the highest award offered by Australian Universities
Foundation studies for International Students
Schools and vocational institutes, as well as universities, offer Foundation Studies programs. This type of study is generally taken over one year. A fundamental aim is to prepare international students for Australian university entry. English Language training and subjects related to further study are incorporated into this program.
English language training
Full-time English courses are available for periods of study from four to 48 weeks. Study tour programs are available, either full or part time, for periods of between one and six weeks.
English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS) may be undertaken at a variety of government and private institutions.
